Three Person Conversation Exercise 5
In practice for the 3 way conversation, I filmed my family at the dinner table, talking about things that happened at work. I found that a lot of the time they ended up talking over each other and that they expressed them selves through there hands a lot.
By doing this exercise it made me understand the importance of reaction shots, because when looking back at the footage I had filmed. I saw that it was more interesting seeing the reaction of others than just the person telling the story. I saw that i was moving the camera around a lot to try and catch the person talking. This made me realize that in my group we would have to go over the seen several times to get a decent amount of shots of them speaking and reaction shots. we would also have to try and encourage them to not talk over each other so that during the edit it would be easer to match up the audio with each other. we would also have to give them a topic to talk about so that they wouldn't just talk about random things. this would also help structure the conversation and help it when bringing it to a close.

Visual Analysis Exercise 3
The documentary film "Lo and Behold reveries of the connected world", uses the technique of hand held camera, this is used when explaining the history of the internet. By using this technique of filming it makes the audience feel as if they are there in the same room and as if they are the ones being talked to directly, this also gives a sense of realism.
Throughout the documentary film, I noticed that the brightness had been heightened and saturation levels had been changed making the backgrounds of each scene look very vibrant in colour. Making it hard to look away. by having this it represented new growing technology as fun and exciting, it also makes the audience think about the beauty in our world.
Through out the film, all the interviewees, were interviewed in there field of work or in there home environment. For instance, the "Brain Researcher" was interviewed in front of a MRI scanner behind him and "The cosmologist", interviewed in his lab. Interviewing people with objects, that they use in there fields of work, helps add to the story by visually showing objects they use daily.

Unbroken Story Telling Exercise 4
In this unbroken story telling, we will be looking into why Harry Young, decided to choose to pursue a career in the film industry, and the people that have helped inspire him/help keep him motivated, to do what he wants to do.
The areas that we would like to highlight during filming would be:
- What he's studying?
- What are his interests?
- What projects has he done/ been apart of?
- Who are the people that helped him and inspired him along this journey?
- What motivates him?
In each of theses stages I intend Harry to spend a max of 1 minute on each subject.

We have a rough idea of what shot sizes we want, We decided to go through a practice runs of the story. To give us a better understanding on how Harry will move and what he would say, by doing this it will give us time to practice zooming in and out, also following harry's actions. This will give us a better result towards the end as the transitions from the camera angles will be a lot smoother. by doing this it will also give time for Harry to get his story more together and feel more comfortable and open about talking.
I hope to accomplish a smooth fluent interview with a range of shots and over all a look of continuity during the edit. I hope that by filming the same interview several times it will make editing easier.

Signals
I would time the interview for 5 mins, then when time was almost up I would "tap" Harry on the shoulder signalling him to signal Harry Young with a "wave" so that he could bring the conversation to a close.
We will only have physical signals, not verbal as we think it will be very disruptive to Harry.
- Tap on shoulder - 5 mins almost up
- Wave - bring interview to a close
- moving hand up or down- signalling interviewer to sit down or get up

Documentary Proposal Exercise 1
Sleepless
Sleepless would be a 8 minute participatory documentary, that would be based on a twenty one year old college student named Mathew. He would be doing a social experiment on how many days a student can last without sleep. This documentary would be to show the importance of sleep and how young people can be affected by it Physically, and emotionally.
This would be shown by following Matthew around in his daily life. For instance, going college, hanging out with friends and family and so on. However, during the nights he would be doing video diaries and giving updates on what he is thinking about and feeling.
Interviews would be held with Matthews close friends and family members, to get a more in depth understanding on Matthews personality and to see if they notice any differences about his behaviour in the coming days.
The filming locations would be in his house/bed room , outside of college, at a local park and any where that Matthew visits regularly.
Voice overs would be used when sharing facts and statistics, also to show stories from articles. Music will also be added to help set a tone. For instance, fast upbeat music that Matthew enjoys listening to, will be played in the background to start. However, as the days go by the songs change depending on the way Matthew feels that day.
